Merl Jaeger writes poetry from a shack in the woods of your nightmares.

From a Palm Desert Motel by: Merl Jaeger

Bent over the dresser, spread open, double-dosed.

Dear, close the curtains. She said: blinking pink neon

makes my left eye twitch; sparkles around the

spatters and stains on the florid bedspread:

night of stripped lace in the back alley, pinch the skin shut –

Flush lips kiss waves of musk and spittle

out white dribbles. Shoot doubles. We have the room

for the night.
