In Defense Of Loosening Up A Bit

I am tired of seriousness.
we are all tired of seriousness.

the serious artist.
the serious writer.
the serious painter.
the serious relationship.

I am tired of all this to the point
of weariness.

why can’t we just do
what we want to do
without the pressure
of having to be good
at it?

Seeded Watermelon

you
have
to
throw
out
50
percent
of
everything
a
woman
says
in
a
relationship

the
other
50
percent
you
have
to
take
with
a
grain
of
salt.

My Cousin Louie

I knew my cousin Louie would be a successful businessman
when at age 12 he was making 20 dollars a day
selling wholesale candy to his classmates at school.

I knew my cousin Louie would be a successful businessman
when at age 16 he was making 200 dollars a week
installing car stereos for the guys on the block.

I knew my cousin Louie would be a successful businessman
when at age 18 he hit my sister square in the nose
just because she called him a jerk.

I knew a man with that amount of brains, skill and
lack of sensitivity would make it far in this world.
