Call for submissions

by Horror Sleaze Trash on December 30, 2013

First things first: Read some of the poets already published here OR check out some of the publications under the “Stuff We Like” section to get an idea of what we are looking for:

Send 2-5 poems (no more, no less) to While we strongly prefer them in the body of an email, we will accept most document formats.

Pay: The Blind Vigil Revue will select one poem each month whose author will be awarded $10.00 USD. We hope to be able to increase this award in the near future. There are conditions, more to come very soon… Suspended until submission volume increases.

Rights: By submitting your work to The Blind Vigil Revue, you give us the rights to publish it here once, then archive it forever. If we choose to republish your work in future print anthologies, you will first be contacted.

BVR publishes on a rolling basis. This means we check email as often as possible, accept or decline poems as soon as they are received and read, and publish immediately upon acceptance.

No simultaneous submissions or previously published poems. Period. If your poems are posted on your LiveJournal or Facebook, they are for all intents and purposes, previously published. Don’t even think about it.

If your poems have an obvious, deliberate rhyme scheme, they had better be damn good. Additionally, please be very, very selective with the use of the words poem, poet, or poetry within your poems.

Including a Bio in 3rd person with your submission to be posted on our Contributors page is not a request, it’s a requirement. Your Bio may contain your litany of publication successes if you choose, but we prefer something that shows your personality.

If you have not heard back from us within 7 days, feel free to query. We do this for love of the art, not for money. We have day jobs for that, so please be patient.

In the event that your work is declined, we encourage you submit again anytime. We also would like to think that most of the poets submitting here are mature and professional enough to know how to behave in such cases.

If you have been published here before, we politely ask that you wait one week (7 days) before submitting again.

While not interested in publishing fiction , BVR is quite open to the idea of visual art, articles, essays and book and film reviews and would be delighted to publish them. Please query first.
